An injectable treatment aimed at the quality and condition of the skin rather than at shape or volume. It's often discussed in relation to the area around the eyes, where skin is thin and options are limited.
Where the evidence stands
Interest in this treatment has grown quickly. The published evidence behind it is still developing, and it doesn't have the length of track record that longer-established injectable treatments have.
That doesn't mean we think it's a bad treatment, or we wouldn't offer it. It means we're not going to describe it with more certainty than currently exists. If what matters most to you is choosing the treatment with the longest history behind it, this isn't that treatment, and we'll say so at the consultation rather than after.
Is it suitable for me?
That depends on your skin, what's bothering you and how you feel about the point above. Some people want the newer option, some want the established one, and both are reasonable positions.

Sessions and review
Usually more than one session. The number depends on you, and we won't put a figure on it before we've assessed you. Where a review makes sense we'll arrange one rather than booking a fixed course in advance.
Risks
Bruising, swelling and tenderness at the injection points are common. Small lumps can occur and usually settle.
There's a small risk of infection, as with any injectable. Rarer complications are possible and we'll discuss what's relevant to you.
Questions patients ask
Because it appears to help some people, and because the alternative for certain areas is very little. We just don't dress that up.
