Dermal filler placed along the lower face to add definition.
Why suitability varies so much
Filler adds definition where there's already a structure to define and enough support to hold it. Where skin has lost elasticity, or where there's a good deal of soft tissue over the jaw, adding volume tends to add weight rather than sharpness.
Bone structure sets a ceiling on what's achievable. So does skin quality. Neither is something we can change with an injection, and pretending otherwise is how people end up heavier in the lower face than when they started.
What it won't do
It won't tighten skin. It won't remove fullness under the chin. It won't produce a jawline that your underlying anatomy doesn't support.

Risks
Bruising and swelling are common.
The uncommon but serious risk of a blood vessel being blocked applies here as it does with any filler, and the lip enhancement page explains it in full.
Facial ultrasound may be used where clinically appropriate to support anatomical assessment or treatment planning.
